With the recent World economic crisis, it is clear that economic down turn in one country can cause a ripple effect throughout the globe. Food supply is very essential for human survival. While you see auto dealerships and other industries going out of business, you rarely see a farmers market or a supermarket closing their doors for good. Farming is a basic technique of growing crops to produce food and while people may stop buying certain things they will always buy food. I think it is a very good idea to cultivate other species of crops that can adapt to the changing climate conditions. There is already a current food shortage around the World in some countries and if those countries have the crops or the technology to grow their own food it will definitely be beneficial to their country.
Since we are currently using corn, wheat, sugar cane and other crops for fuel, it is a good idea to start farming on a larger scale. This will not only create jobs but will also cause the prices in the grocery store to go down as there will be an increase in competition and much more supplies.

I agree that the food business will always be in demand, and that it will help our economy by creating jobs if we start farming on a larger scale. I think that there is some setbacks to this though. One problem is planting different species that have to adapt to the environment. This will cost the farmers more in equipment expenses and if the plants do not grow then the farmer is out of crop for that season and the workers might not get paid.
